Stephanie’s contemporary modern technique class is based in release technique and highly influenced by her work with Doug Varone. Class begins with a guided improvisation investigating ideas of connection, weight, effort and sensation. The aim is to help students increase awareness of both intrinsic motivations as well as the body’s relationship to space. These concepts are further explored and developed through more traditionally structured exercises. Students are asked to move boldly and physically, finding ease in the joints and committing to the movement task at hand. Class culminates with a vigorous, high-energy movement phrase.
Stephanie restages her own performance works as well as restages the works of Doug Varone.
Her creative work is highly collaborative with dancers and designers to create a complete visual and sonic experience for the viewer.
I teach an open level hatha and vinyasa yoga class for all students. The aim is to provide time and space for an asana (posture) practice that may include chanting, meditating and breath work as supportive tools. Stephanie received her 200 RTT through Yogaworks in 2012.
